8 Months Old

My mom made the comment last week that this has been a fast 8 months, much faster than 8 months of pregnancy.  I couldn't agree more.  It's hard to believe it is September (October on Monday), we are heading into fall and soon it will be winter.  Austin hit some big milestones this month and is keeping us on our toes all day long now.

Here is a bulleted list of month 8:
  • Cut his first teeth!  The two bottom teeth came in on the same day.  We had seen a little white under the gums on one side and I thought he was about to get one but they actually both came together.  He doesn't like to show them off and gets mad when you try to reach in his mouth to feel or show them.  I guess I can't blame him!
  • Standing up and taking steps side to side while holding on to the couch or coffee table!  He pulls up to a standing position and stands on his tippy toes!  He gets excited and bounces around and then falls but he is getting stronger.  Last week he started side stepping while holding on!
  • Crawls like a pro!  Very fast!
  • Wears size 3 diapers.
  • Wears 6-9 month clothes.  (He still wears some 3-6 month pants because his waist is small.)
  • Sleep:  2 naps/12 hours at night
  • Eating 3 meals a day:  rice cereal, fruits (whole and pureed), vegetables (whole and pureed), meats (pureed), yogurt snacks, puffs, Gerber cookies, cheese puff snacks.
  • Drinks 4-5 bottles of formula a day but he is not drinking as much now that he is eating more.
  • Had his first cold.  We think his got it from Daddy.  Both of my boys were snotty and stuffy for a few days.  He slept with a humidifier, had some Tylenol and cuddled with us.  That all seemed to help and he is feeling good now.
  • Likes: playing, listening to music, eating, taking baths, going for walks, laughing, being outside
  • Dislikes:  anyone touching his teeth, when someone takes something away from him that he shouldn't have, baby food with little chunks of meat/veggies (stage 3 meats)
You are our greatest gift Austin!  Thank you for making every single day amazing!  We love you!!

Eating "big boy food"...bananas and green beans.
(More ends up in his lap than in his mouth but he is having fun trying.)

He LOVES bath time and is a total water baby!

Play Time!!

"Lovin' You Is Fun"

We are pretty sure we have a future musician on our hands! He definitely has music in his blood.

Watch and see for yourself...and turn up your sound!

Lovin' you is fun Austin Todd! xoxo-Mommy and Daddy

P.S.-At 7/12 months he already has more rhythm than Mommy! ;)

7 Months Old

{This post is now 2 weeks overdue!  Life has been busy around here.  Austin has hit some major milestones in the last two weeks that I will not be posting here because technically they will go in the 8 month post!  But hopefully I can get a seperate post up soon because they are sooo cool!!  Stay tuned!}

For some reason 7 months seems so much older than 6 months.  I guess because we have officially passed half a year and are heading to 1 year old.  I hope the next 5 months go by slowly so I can soak it all up.

Austin is on the move this month!  He is officially crawling and he is all over the place.  It only took him a few days to get it down and when he did, he was off!!  As the days go by he is getting faster and faster and we have quickly learned that we can't keep him in the living room playing while we try to do other things.  Nope, all eyes need to be on our boy as he moves around the house looking for things to grab and put in his mouth.  At this time his favorite "toys" are shoes, stray leaves that make it inside the house, sunglasses, whatever we are eating, cell phones, etc.

He is still wearing 3-6 month clothes but I'm sure I could move him up to 6-9 any day now.  He is wearing size 3 diapers.

He is now eating 3 meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner.  He does very well with baby food and has started with puffs.  He wants what we eat and when we are out to dinner he has had lemons, limes and tortillas.  I'm currently on the hunt for more things he can eat when we are out to keep him distracted at the table.

I put him in the front of the grocery cart and in a high chair at a restaurant for the first time this month and he loved it!!  He was so cute in the grocery store and everyone wanted to smile at him and say hi!  He was in awe.  I was happy because without his car seat in the basket, I could get more groceries!

He is still sleeping great.  Two naps a day and about 12 hours at night.  Occasionally when Daddy is home he tries to skip nap time!  Daddy is just too fun!

Austin is finally getting a little more hair and it is very light blond, so for the most part he still looks bald!  He still does not have any teeth which is fine by me!  Recently people have started saying that he looks like my dad.  We think he has the Bohne eyes and forehead, but for the most part he still looks a lot like Tayt!

I'm back at work which means Tayt is in charge during the day while I work.  We are so thankful for this time with our boy and grateful that he will spend his first year at home and not in childcare.  God definitely knew what he was doing in our lives!!!

We love that his personality is starting to really come out.  He laughs out loud all of the time, yells to get our attention, smiles and snuggles.

This month has been busy....He spent the first night away from us at Lovey and G's, went to the Todd Family Reunion and to visit his Mimi (Tayt's mom), went out to eat a lot, went swimming and took a lot of morning walks in the neighborhood.

Happy 7 months baby boy!  You are our whole world and we love every little bit of you!!!!!!!
