5 Months Old

How could 5 months have passed so quickly?  I can hardly believe it.  Our baby boy is busier than ever this month and we are loving it.  We will go back to the doctor next month for a 6 month check up.  Here is a list of all of the things our little man is up to this month:

1. Rolling all over the place.  He has quickly figured out that rolling will get him from place to place and in a matter of seconds he can move from one side of the room to the other!

2.  Rocking on his hands and knees.  I don't know if we are on the fast track to crawling, but Austin has learned how to get up on his knees, hold his body up with his arms and rock back and forth!

3.  He found his FEET!!

4.  Chews on his hands and all toys!  Everything goes right in the mouth!

5.  Sucks his thumb.  This is the sign that we have a sleepy baby.

6.  Sleeping in his crib at night from about 7 or 8pm to 7am!  Currently he sleeps on his side, sucking his thumb, with the other hand over his face or on his tummy.

7.  Following everything with his eyes (tracking).

8.  He is taking a short morning nap and a 2-3 hour afternoon nap.

9.  Responding to his name!

10.  "Talking" a lot!

11.  Laughing and smiling.

12. Making friends with Tanner!

13. Eating rice cereal at night and drinking 5-6 (5oz) bottles a day.  (We are on all formula now.  Both baby and mommy's body were telling us it was time.  I'm proud to say we breast fed for 4 months!  It was a great experience.)

14. Wearing 3-6 month clothes.

15. Wearing size 2 diapers.

16. Working on sitting with assistance.

17. He loves jumping in his jumper/activity seat.

This month Mommy finished school and started summer vacation, Daddy started summer school and a new job, you went swimming for the first time and loved it, PeePaw came to visit, we celebrated Father's Day, Daymi came to visit, you hung out with your Uncle Grant who just LOVES you, we played a lot and you made us all laugh a lot!

I count my blessings every single day and thank God for this amazing gift.  Being a parent is the BEST experience in the world and I feel like my heart could burst with all the love I have for our baby boy.

Random Ramblings

Sometimes I just need to make a list of all the things running through my head...

*At any given time I have no idea what the date is or even the day of the week for that matter.

*I am thoroughly enjoying being home with my baby this summer...

*AND, I think I'm doing a great job as a stay at home mommy.

*I need a pedicure.

*I need to go to the grocery store.

*I should really clean the bathrooms this week.

*My husband is the greatest.

*I love our cozy home but I wish we could re-do the kitchen.

*I'm excited and nervous about teaching 2nd grade next year.

*How will I ever DO everything that I have pinned on Pinterest?

*I look at Facebook way too much.

*I need to start working out again.

*I should go to school and organize my new classroom.

*I will probably waste the afternoon while Austin sleeps by watching daytime tv.

*No, I don't feel guilty about just watching tv all afternoon.

*I need some sun this summer...but not on my post-baby belly...blah....again, I need to work out.

*I'm happy with my life.

*I love my family.

*I can't believe my baby will be 5 months old this week.

*God is good.

*I'm going to Pei Wei tonight with a friend and that makes me very excited!

*We need a date night.

*Why do I hear a baby in the monitor when he should be napping?

*Trying not to spend money is hard.

*I should look up some new recipes for dinner AND actually cook them!

*My blog layout needs a makeover.

From the Phone #2 (Sleeping Baby)

I have got to get better about loading the pictures from my phone on to the computer.  There are soooo many pictures of my little muffin on my phone and I LOVE them all!  Here are some pictures of my sleeping baby!  I think he looks like a baby doll when he is asleep!  Most of these are from a while ago so I will have to do a part 2 at some point...and probably a part 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and 7...you get the point...I have a ton of pics!  These are in no particular order, just how they downloaded.  {Side note:  We swaddled him in the beginning.  He didn't love his arms in so we started swaddling with his arms out.  He has always enjoyed sleeping on his stomach (I know, I know...he should be on his back but he always slept so much better on his tummy.)  We tried to keep him on his back as much as possible but now that he rolls all over the place, he can sleep however he wants.  It's kind of a game now for Tayt and I when we go in to check on him.  You never know where he will be in the crib!  Currently he likes sleeping on his side with one thumb in the mouth and the other hand up over his face.  It is very cute and I'll have to post pictures of that soon!  You can also tell from these pictures that the first few months of his life he slept wherever he wanted.  On us, in the swing, on the couch, etc.}

I LOVE Summer

For the next 10 weeks I will be a stay at home mommy!!!!!  Last week was the last week of school and on Thursday I said goodbye to my students for the summer.  This week I was asked to help revise and write the 3rd Grade Science and Social Studies curriculum for my district along with a team of very talented teachers from around the district.  Today I wrapped it up which means that I am officially on summer vacation!!!!  I plan to spend the next few months soaking up my favorite season with my favorite people!  Here's to sunshine, snuggling with my baby, relaxing, watching TV, swimming, hanging out with my cousins, more blogging, planning for my first year in 2nd grade, being with my family, working on our house, cooking, patios, margaritas, friends, play dates, naps and much more!
